Racine County Celebrates Opening of Pritchard Park Stadium

Post Date:05/04/2021 11:28 AM

In partnership with the Racine Unified School District, Racine County celebrated the opening of the new multipurpose stadium at Pritchard Park on Friday, April 23.

The state-of-the-art, synthetic turf stadium at the SC Johnson Community Sports Complex will be used for football, soccer, lacrosse and a variety of community events. The project includes an innovative 2,000-person capacity top-loading bleacher system, raised plaza, ticket stands, concessions, press box, scoreboard and lighting.

The stadium, which was completed last fall, was made possible through a $6 million partnership between Racine County and the Racine Unified School District, as well as a $250,000 grant from the NFL Foundation Grassroots Program.

Prior to the Park-Case varsity football game, Racine County Executive Jonathan Delagrave and Racine Unified School Board President Brian O’Connell held a short ribbon-cutting ceremony with coaches and players.

“We are so proud to partner with Racine Unified on this wonderful facility. Quality athletic fields have long been a need in our community, so we are excited to take a major step forward for our youth, families, and residents of Racine County. We eagerly await the day when we can enjoy full use of this facility with the entire community,” County Executive Delagrave said.

“Pritchard Park is a game changer for Racine Unified student athletes, especially our Park High School football players who will finally have a home field,” said RUSD Superintendent Dr. Eric Gallien. “We’re proud of this collaboration with Racine County and look forward to the many opportunities this new facility will provide not only our students but the entire community.”

Racine Unified School District's contribution to this project comes from the Community Service Fund. State law requires RUSD use these funds for the community – beyond their own schools – and the district is excited to partner with the county on this project.

The stadium will be open to all area schools and sports teams, youth teams, community organizations and residents.
