FOSTER CARE HOSTS "A CHILD'S JOURNEY" ON NOV. 16

Post Date:11/14/2022 11:33 AM

RACINE -- Racine County Foster Care is hosting a special panel and discussion entitled "A Child's Journey" on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 1:30-4 p.m. The event will be streamed live on the Racine County and Foster Care Facebook pages.

"This event intends to raise awareness of the journey of a foster child through the system so that our community leaders can support foster children, families, and stakeholders in a way that makes sense to them," said Foster Care Supervisor Dan Chiappetta. "Our greatest need is for more local foster homes so foster children are not placed outside of their community, away from their siblings, family, friends and their school, which can create additional trauma."

Topics for the event include, but are not limited to:

  • The struggles foster children experience;

  • The reasons why and when kids are placed in foster care;

  • The need for more local foster homes to safely care for and nurture foster children;

  • The importance of community understanding and support.

Moderated by Alley Faith of KISS FM, a distinguished panel of experts will guide the audience through the current foster care system.
