RISE=Up

RISE=UP, which stands for Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence = Unlimited Potential, is a comprehensive and trauma-informed program tailored for male youth at the Jonathan Delagrave Youth Development and Care Center. This program focuses on holistic development, blending academic support, cognitive-behavioral therapy and social-emotional learning to help youth achieve personal growth, positive behavior change and long-term success. The curriculum is built on evidence-based practices designed to address individual needs and reduce recidivism. Male youth participate in RISE=UP within the SRCCCY under a Correctional Placement.

Key components of RISE=UP include:

  • Education in Practice: Academic development is a central focus, helping male youth improve literacy and earn high school credits. RISE=UP staff actively participate in individualized education plans, tutoring and classroom management to support each youth’s educational journey.
  • Belonging: The program fosters a sense of belonging by creating a safe, supportive environment. Male youth are encouraged to form trusting relationships with both peers and staff, enhancing engagement and improving outcomes.
  • Social Emotional Wellness: RISE=UP places a strong emphasis on teaching male youth emotional regulation, coping skills and a positive mindset. The curriculum supports emotional development and helps youth manage challenges both in school and in life.
  • Career Readiness: Vocational training prepares male youth for employment, teaching them practical skills and job readiness. The program focuses on reducing recidivism by equipping youth with the tools necessary for a successful transition to adulthood.
  • Relationship Development: Building and maintaining positive relationships is a key focus. Male youth are guided to take responsibility for their actions, learn from mistakes and grow through personal connections with others.

The programs’ supportive environment, featuring dedicated classrooms, vocational areas and outdoor spaces, fosters a sense of belonging and encourages male youth to reintegrate successfully into their communities.
