- The loss of productive farms and agricultural resources is of increasing public concern.
- Agriculture is a vital part of Racine County's economic, cultural, and ecological landscape.
- It provides important economic, social, and ecological functions by:
- Controlling Floodwater
- Recharging Groundwater Supplies
- Sustaining Wildlife Habitat
- Providing Scenic Beauty
Conservation Reserved Enhancement Program (CREP)
- CREP is a resource for those actively working the land to use to help meet their conservation goals, particularly those who currently till or graze land along rivers and streams.
- Landowners install filter strips along waterways or to return continually flooded fields to wetlands while leaving the remainder of the adjacent land in agricultural production.
Wildlife Damage Abatement and Claims Program (WDACP)
- WI DNR - Wildlife Damage Abatement and Claims Program
- Call 1-800-433-0663 to report crop damage
- WDACP provides assistance and partial compensation to farmers for agricultural damage to the crops.
- Crop damage caused by deer, elk, bear, geese, or wild turkeys can receive assistance for abatement and removal.
- Crop damage must be reported within 14 days of first noticing damage.
Deer Donation

- Wisconsin's autumn tradition continues to be an opportunity to help those in need.
- The deer donation program allows hunter's to donate deer to be processed into ground venison.
- Since 2000, over 90,000 deer have been donated to the State and processed into over 3.7 million pounds of ground venison.
Gypsy Moth Suppression

- Gypsy Moth caterpillars can cause heavy tree deforestation.
- The WI DNR combined with the county and local municipalities, organize aerial insecticide treatments to suppress damaging gypsy moth populations.
